limestone
The type of market lime (quick lime) depends on its ingredients. If lime consists of more than 90% of its weight in calcium carbonate, the resulting lime is quicklime. And when calcium carbonate is less than 75% of its weight, the lime obtained from baking it is quicklime.

Types of lime
Another name is lime or calcium oxide with the chemical formula CaO. Types of lime include quick lime, dead lime, blue, semi-blue, hydrated, dolomite, greasy and semi-quick, each of which has specific characteristics and uses that are used in different industries.

Dead lime and lime juice
As a result of pouring water on calcium oxide, a reaction occurs that causes heat, and this generated heat causes a part of the water to evaporate. The result of this action is that the lime swells due to water absorption, and finally its shape becomes white round, which is called dead lime, in fact, this process is also called blooming of lime. Whenever some water is added to dead lime, it turns into milk of lime, which, if filtered, produces a clear solution that is actually a saturated solution of calcium hydroxide in water, which is called lime water. Lime water has many applications in the chemical industry. For example, it is used in the preparation of sodium hydroxide, ammonia, metal hydroxide, perchlorine and especially in the extraction of magnesium from sea water.
